Alex Pelletier is a 2007 graduate of the SOM.  Currently, she is a Project Specialist at Partners Healthcare Information Systems, working in a small, innovative group named The Center for Connected Health (www.connected-health.org) where research is focused on using technology to enable patients and care providers to change the way healthcare is delivered.

Before coming to Simmons, Pelletier began learning about sustainability issues through a colleague who worked at the Global Reporting Initiative.  By the time she matriculated, she had already become personally involved in the vision behind sustainable business practices.

In her time at the SOM, Pelletier was an active member of the Net Impact chapter where she found inspiration in the group’s engaging dialog.  “It was great to know there was a group where we could exchange ideas and discuss new opportunities and challenges in incorporating sustainable ideas behind doing business,” she says.  “This meant thinking differently about the environmental and social impact while still keeping an eye on economic value.”

In addition to utilizing the scholarship offered by the Dean for the attendees of the 2006 annual Net Impact conference, Pelletier leveraged the academic offerings of the Triple Bottom Line and Corporate Social Responsibility electives to fully round out her Simmons experience.  After her years with the program, she cites a more finely tuned macro level view and strong network of knowledgeable peers among her greatest takeaways.  “I can see the bigger picture, and even when something doesn’t make sense, I use my tool belt of leadership and organizational behavior teachings to help me craft my communications and approach.”

Alex and her partner recently welcomed their first born in late December of last year, and continues to stay connected to the Simmons community as she pursues her passions in healthcare.
